See The Road

An action, event or other thing that occurs or happens again

December 15th, 2011

See the Road is getting set for an exciting pre-Christmas set supporting Surgeon and George Rogers at a Nottingham art gallery. The event, which takes place at One Thoresby Street on 21st December, is the culmination of a project curated by Nottingham artist Candice Jacobs called “An action, event or other thing that occurs or happens again.”

The exhibition opened last month and explores the effect of repetition advertising, television and other aspects popular culture through a series of events. It features artists such as Ruth Proctor, Bruce Asbestos and Jack Strange. The project also explores how the repetition of language, images and sound is used as a powerful tool in the creation of everything from simple patterns to complex narratives that draws an audience in.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s event, Ally Reilly said: “It’s been a long time since we have played out in Nottingham and we are very happy to have been asked to support Surgeon and George Rogers.”

Tickets are £5 and can be bought here. The exhibition runs until 23rd December.

Insight in to the techniques behind See the Road

November 11th, 2011

Mark has started a blog regarding production techniques and audio experiments. Documenting his own work and offering an insight in to the process used on the releases, it also collates items of interest from the web and the world of audio. Previews of upcoming See the Road tracks are likely to appear here long before release. Check Cedar-Production for more details.

See The Road Remix Cyan341′s Disconnected

October 11th, 2011

Cyan341, East London producer Mark Streatfield… following critical acclaim for his previous releases on Uncharted Audio this new 12” showcases “Disconnected”. Alongside the glitchy dub-tech of the original, side A sees Nottingham’s See The Road turn in a dark warehouse thumper which has already turned heads after label boss Kone-R included it in his mix for Fabric’s website ahead of his appearance there earlier this year. Abstract Source, turns up the house pressure with a nigglingly catchy bassline and uplifting chords. Rounding off the EP on a wonkier tip is Chicago’s man-of-the-moment Area.

Limited 12″ includes free and instant download in the format of your choice, MP3 320, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire. Otherwise EP is released 17 October 2011.

Fabric Mix & Smugglers Inn

February 24th, 2011

It’s been a while so here’s a quick update. Over the past few months, we have been working on the next EP, as well as a remix for Cyan341′s forthcoming EP on Unchartered Audio. Label boss Kone-R is playing Room 2 at Fabric on Saturday, warming things up for Robert Hood who is appearing as Floorplan plus Orlando Voorn and the very cheeky Detroit Grand Pubahs.

He has recorded a special promo mix for the guys at Fabric which includes the See The Road remix of Disconnected, you can download it here. If you are in London town this weekend, this is is one to look out for.

You can also check out a sneak preview of The Business End from our next EP on Red Rack’em’s latest Smugglers Inn Podcast. This rhythmic slice of post dub-step with a nod to Photek is already causing a stir.

More to come soon, in the meantime have a good weekend.

Prefab EP

July 23rd, 2010

See The Road return with a new EP of raw late night abandon. The secretive Nottingham techno collective have hit hard with three more slabs of electronic future music. Prefab EP is further strengthened by a wonderfully off-kilter remix by fellow Nottinghamite, wrong-house guru Spandex from the respected Hand On The Plow crew.

The EP has been well received with praise coming from Claude Young, 2562, Jolka and more as well as Radio Play from Cian O Ciobhain at RTE RTNAG and a review in iDJ magazine.

Available 26/7/2010 from all major digital retailers.

BBC 6 Music & Detached

May 18th, 2010

Last Wednesday Tom Ravenscroft was nice enough to play Pondora on BBC 6 Music whilst standing in for Gideon Coe. We’ve been a bit slow on the uptake but if you’re quick you can still listen to the show here. Thanks Tom, you may have got the artist and title the wrong way round but you played the full track so it’s all good!

5th June Mark and Ally are taking a trip up the M1 to leeds and playing Detached at Beaverworks. For those that don’t know Detached is probably Leeds best Techno nights with past guests including Surgeon, Oscar Mulero & Peter Van Hoesen. This month Dualtek(Takaaki Itoh & Go Hiyama) and Forward Stratergy Group are heading up the main room while See The Road join the rest of the Resonant Alliance to take care of business in room 2. If you make it down be sure to say hello.

Pondora EP

February 28th, 2010

Well, it’s been a long time coming – but Pondora EP goes on sale on 22nd March in all major digital retailers. With its driving rhythm and piano refrain, the title track Pondora is at home on most dance floors. PPP is a more minimal affair while the dank, night-time march of Liven suits harder times.  Already attracting attention from DJs such as Claude Young, John Selway and Terrence Dixon, this is definitely one not to miss.
